Description

Skateboard GB is the UK wide governing body for skateboarding – a sport and culture defined by creativity, individuality and belonging. Rooted in community and constantly evolving, skateboarding is as much about expression and identity as it is performance. We are proud to sit at the heart of that movement, supporting skateboarders at every level to Skate More, Skate Better.

Skateboard GB exists to serve and champion the skateboarding community. That means listening to lived experience, creating space for diverse voices, and growing the sport in ways that feel authentic, inclusive and true to its culture. These values are not peripheral - they sit at the core of our ambition and shape the future of our Board.

Over a relatively short period, Skateboard GB has achieved remarkable progress. From meaningful grassroots growth to success on the world stage, the organisation has matured quickly while staying closely connected to the communities it represents. We are now building on that progress with confidence and intent - strengthening our governance, refining our systems and creating the conditions for long term, sustainable success, without losing what makes skateboarding unique.

Following a period of reflection and organisational redesign, Skateboard GB has sharpened its focus across both Performance and Community, invested in its people, and reaffirmed its commitment to values led leadership. The Board plays a vital role in stewarding this ambition - providing thoughtful challenge, strategic clarity and support as the organisation delivers the next phase of its long term strategy and continues to grow in scale, impact and influence.

Who sits around the Board matters.

Skateboarding thrives on diversity of thought, experience and identity, and we want our Board to do the same. We strongly welcome applications from women and people from ethnically diverse and under-represented backgrounds, as well as from those who may not have followed a traditional Board pathway. If you bring insight, curiosity, sound judgement and a desire to contribute to something meaningful, we would love to hear from you.

The role - Independent NED (Performance)

This role is designed for an experienced performance leader who understands what it takes to build and sustain high‑performing systems in complex, high‑scrutiny environments.

Skateboard GB has reached a point of performance maturity, with strong leadership and direction already in place. The Performance INED will bring experience that extends beyond the organisation’s current capability - gained in larger or more complex performance systems - and apply it with insight, humility and strategic clarity at Board level.

This is not an operational or technical coaching role. Instead, you will:

  • Provide strategic judgement and system‑level insight across the performance pathway, from talent development through to Olympic performance
  • Offer constructive challenge and independent perspective to Board decision‑making
  • Support and champion performance leadership, helping the organisation navigate complexity, scrutiny and long‑term ambition

You are likely to have held senior leadership roles within elite sport or comparable performance environments, where you have carried responsibility and learned through challenge. You will bring calm, curiosity and values‑led leadership to the Boardroom.

This is an opportunity to support an ambitious organisation at a pivotal moment, while remaining true to the individuality, creativity and community that define skateboarding.
